Police arrest car snatchers, robber in Ondo

 

The Ondo State Police Command has captured two men who professedly represented considerable authority in grabbing vehicles in Akure and one individual from a furnished theft group.

The suspects were paraded by the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Mike Ogbodu, at the state base camp of the summon on Tuesday.

The suspects are Muhammad Bello, Akinde Ayo and Moses Olayemi.

Ayo and Olayemi were asserted to be individuals from an auto grabbing syndicate in charge of taking diverse vehicles in Akure and its environs for as long as couple of months before they were captured by the men of the order.

The chief said, "Bello was captured amid a theft operation on Benin-Ore-Ijebu Ode interstate where two of his 10-man group were executed by the police while different individuals fled.

"A portion of the things recouped from the suspects are eight autos, two privately made rifle cartridges and cutlasses, among different weapons.

Olayemi admitted to the wrongdoing while talking with our journalist. He said he had stolen no less than 11 autos since he started the operation early this year.

He disclosed that he used to offer a stolen auto as shoddy as in the middle of N80,000 and N140,000, including that after the auto had been stolen, they would change its number plate, and a few sections of the vehicle before it is sold to someone else.

"We offer any jeep that we take for N140,000, while we offer autos, whether new or old, for N80,000. When we take autos, we will evacuate their number plates. We will likewise change a few sections of the vehicle so that the proprietor would not distinguish it when he sees it," he included.

He said different individuals from his pack had not been captured as they had fled the town when they learnt he had been captured.

The police supervisor said the summon was on the trail of the escaping individuals from the posse while the suspects would soon be charged to court.
